Living Stone Design + Build Featured in House Beautiful’s 2024 Whole Home
We’re thrilled to share that Living Stone Design + Build was featured in House Beautiful’s 2024 Whole Home! As the builder behind this remarkable mountain retreat, we’re incredibly proud to see our work showcased alongside some of the country’s most talented interior designers.
Set in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Hendersonville, North Carolina, the 4,000-square-foot contemporary home was created as a place to relax, recharge and enjoy the best of mountain living.
Located in Sprout, a conservation-minded community surrounded by a private nature preserve, the home reflects a shared vision for thoughtful design, everyday comfort and energy-efficient living.
Bringing House Beautiful’s 2024 Whole Home to Life
For its seventh annual Whole Home, House Beautiful partnered with our very own Sean Sullivan, the 2023 National Custom Home Builder of the Year, and Laura K. Sullivan of ID.ology Interiors & Design, along with 11 other talented design teams from across the country.
As the project’s builder, we had the exciting opportunity to help bring this ambitious vision to life. From the home’s contemporary mountain architecture to its thoughtfully designed living spaces, the project brought together craftsmanship, creativity and a shared appreciation for beautiful homes.
Energy efficiency was also part of the home’s design, with Trane heating and cooling systems and Hunter Douglas window treatments helping maintain a comfortable indoor environment.
Seeing the finished home come together was a rewarding experience, made even more special by the incredible designers, tradespeople and partners who contributed their expertise.
A Special Project for Our Western North Carolina Community
While the 2024 Whole Home celebrates beautiful design, its story also carries a deeper meaning.
As the project reached completion, Hurricane Helene struck Western North Carolina, leaving many communities facing devastating damage. In its feature, House Beautiful recognized the local professionals who worked on the home and the resilience of the region.
We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this project possible and proud to be part of a community filled with talented, hardworking people.

About the Author, Sean Sullivan
Sean got his start in the construction business in 1994. Today, he’s the President of Living Stone Design + Build, and is an Accredited Master Builder, Certified Green Professional, Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, and author of Building a Quality Custom Home: What you Need to Know. He also teaches continuing education courses for builders and accreditations through the NC Builders Institute. Sean loves western North Carolina and the Asheville community, and lives in Black Mountain with his wife, Laura Sullivan.
